Traffic Court Convictions

Several persons appeared before the Basseterre Magistrate's Court on October 27 and 28, 2025, where several traffic cases were heard before Her Honor Yasmine Clarke. The following outcomes were recorded:

1. Licensing Authority vs. Kirah Griffin of Lodge Village—The defendant pleaded NOT GUILTY, was convicted, and was fined $1,500.00 in three (3) months or one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention, committed on 18th February, 2021.

2. Licensing Authority vs. Rajay Browne of Lodge Project—The defendant pleaded GUILTY, was convicted, and was fined $500.00 in three (3) months or one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of Driving Without Insurance. He was also convicted and fined $800.00 or one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of driving without a valid or unexpired license, committed on 4th August, 2025.

3. Licensing Authority vs. Dannel Parrington of Lime Kiln Village—The defendant pleaded GUILTY, was convicted, and was fined $800.00 in one (1) month or one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention, committed on 27th April, 2025.

Tuesday, 28th October, 2025

1. Licensing Authority vs. Lonsito Phillips of Lamberts — The defendant pleaded GUILTY, was convicted, and was fined $150.00 in one (1) month or one (1) week imprisonment for the offence of Driving with Passenger Not Restrained by Seatbelt, committed on 7th December, 2023.

2. Licensing Authority vs. Brian Berkeley of Godwin Ghaut—The defendant, who pleaded GUILTY, was convicted and fined $750.00 in two (2) months or one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention, committed on 11th April, 2025.

3. Licensing Authority vs. Kelvin Jack of Halfway Tree—The defendant pleaded GUILTY, was convicted, and was fined $850.00 in two (2) months or one (1) month imprisonment for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention, committed on 17th March, 2025.

4. Licensing Authority vs. Ahmad Nicholls of Taylors Range—The defendant, who was unrepresented, pleaded GUILTY, was convicted, and was cautioned for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention, committed on 24th November, 2024.

Over sixty (60) traffic ticket cases were withdrawn at Court after payment of the fines was verified.

The Traffic Department continues to uphold its zero-tolerance stance toward traffic law violations. Motorists are urged to drive with caution, adhere to speed limits, wear seatbelts, and ensure their licenses and insurance are up-to-date and valid.
